Congratulations to Jody Greig once again, as he finally collects his Trophy for winning The Forth Valley Magic Circle Club competition that took place last November.
Here Jody is being presented with the MacDonald Cup, by The President of The Forth Valley Magic Circle, Peter Kinney.
Congratulations once again Jody from all at Forth Valley Magic Circle.
On Monday 17th January, Forth Valley Magic Circle are hosting an informal evening with colleagues and friends from West Lothian Magic Circle. This is a reverse invitation as West Lothian invited us through last year for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
This is an informal night, but it would be appreciated if everyone could take part in the proceedings with a couple of tricks.
As usual we will be meeting at 7.30pm, at The Station Hotel, Larbert.
Congratulations to this years Forth Valley Club Competition winner Jody Greig!
Jody who has only been a member of the club for 3 months took the top honour with a dazzling display of dexterity. Using a wide range of magic including cards, coins and Fire! Here Jody is being congratulated by Kenny Hurren who was the compere for the night. We look forward to presenting Jody with the Cup at the next club meeting.
Second place went to Graham Keane, with his partial silent routine similar to what many a street performer would like to have in their repertoire! Third place was shared by Archie Smith and Tommy Baxter.
Chris Dinwoodie aka, ‘Woody the magician’ will be presenting his first ever lecture on Entertaining Magic at Paisley Magic Circle on Thursday, 20th January, at St Ninians Church, 5 Baldwin Avenue, Glasgow, Lanarkshire G13 2EE at 7.30pm.
At the lecture, E=MC2 , he’ll be releasing his brand new ebook “Pause 4 Applause“. Plus, he has 2/3 products in the pipeline (which shall remain secret for now as he says; ‘I don’t know if they’ll be any good!’)
As Woodie says; ‘ ‘The main body of the lecture will cover Engaging Entertaining magic. I say the main thing because I haven’t actually created the lecture yet! It will be a dangerous lecture as I’ll be talking about magic theory, with other possible subjects including psychology and business’.
I look forward to meeting you all there
All my best
Woody

Here’s a little reminder for Paul Gordons ‘Card Capers’.
Attention Scottish magicians: Book NOW (please) for Card Capers in Glasgow at; the Malletsheugh Inn, Ayr Rd, Newton Mearns, Glasgow on Sunday 16 January 2011. The day runs from 10am until 5pm (he asks that everyone is at the venue for 9:30am) and the cost is £30 which must be paid in advance.
Only a maximum of 50 spaces will be available and they will be first come, first served.
See the webpage for reviews, details, schedule. See http://paulgordon.net/cardcapers.html for info.
What can you do with a fiver these days?
Get a gallon of petrol. Buy a McDonald’s meal. Get a very cheap bottle of wine.
Alternatively five pounds is all it would take for non Glasgow Magic Circle members to gain access to Gary Dunn’s Lecture on November 23rd at the United reformed Church, 69 Johnstone Drive, Rutherglen, G73 2QA at 7.30pm.
Following his successful lecture at Kidology this year, Gary Dunn will be presenting his lecture at The Glasgow Magic circle, with extra bits that were not included at Kidology.
You do not have to be a magician or children’s entertainer to benefit from this lecture. If you do any kind of entertainment for the public, be it professional or not, you are bound to find something useful. Plus it will be a thoroughly enjoyable night as Gary unique style of performing is bound to get you laughing.
So for good night out, come along to The Glasgow Magic Circle on the 23rd November.
Forth Valley Magic Circle are delighted to announce that Michael Ammar is offering a Private Workshop prior to his UK lecture.
If we have enough magicians interested in the workshop, the plan is to start the workshop at 5:30pm and the lecture at 7:30pm (90 minutes, with 30 min break in between).
The price is £25 per person (excluding lecture fee of £10). Michael likes to have 6-12 participants. It’s a “hands-on” experience, where Michael teaches three effects not covered in the workshop. The guests get some “goodies” too – making it good value. We envisage a huge demand for the workshop so it’s first come, first served.
Anyone who has seen Michael lecture on previous visits will know the very high quality of his presentations. Part of Michael Ammar’s lecture will include a video support to enhance some of the items he will be demonstrating.
We look forward to meeting you on 11th October, at The Staion Hotel, 2 Foundry Loan, Larbert, FK5 4AW, (right next door to Larbert Railway Station).
This coming Tuesday, 28th September, Aberdeen Magic Circle is hosting a lecture from Fritz Alkemade. The lecture will begin at 8pm and is at the Motown Soul Bar, Boardwalk Beach Esplanade, Aberdeen, AB24 5NS. It’s on the beach front in Aberdeen.
The cost is £10 for non-members, and it is the only UK society that Fritz will be lecturing in this year.
